Back in 1998, the city of Lawrence was looking for a fun to play municipal golf course, and selected Jeffrey D. Brauer for many reasons, including our willingness to design an affordable and playable municipal golf course within their parameters, rather than sell them on an “upscale” golf course. Despite its original goal and very modest budget, Eagle Bend was voted as one of the top three golf courses in Kansas by the Kansas City Star, and rates on Golf Digest’s “Places to Play” list.
Eagle Bend is an Audubon Sanctuary Course, underscoring our commitment to the environment in the initial design. Bald eagle sightings are plentiful and inspired the name of the course. A unique feature of Eagle Bend’s amenities include a short game area and unique short iron range.
