Champions Run is a private club, set among single family homes. The family of the original developer still owns the club today. Champions Run has options to play from 7,209 yards/6,611/6,158/5,627//5,317 yards, with plans to add more forward tees in the works. Wind is a constant challenge and holes are designed to play better when the prevailing wind is blowing from the southwest.
One meandering creek and two lakes bring water into play on nine of the 18 holes. The undulating fairways mimic the rolling hills of eastern Nebraska. There are a variety of grass bunkers and knolls to supplement sand bunkers for variety of recovery challenges. The 2nd, 9th and 18th holes each offer two fairways to create strategy.
Greens are generally large, but vary, with the par 5 second featuring a green of about 4,000 S.F. to the 9,000 S.F. 18th. The third hole was featured as “Hole of the month” in the USGA journal and it hosted the Web.com Tour’s annual Cox Classic for 18 years.
