The Grand Reopening of Tuckaway Country Club
Attended the grand – re-opening event of Tuckaway Country Club, Franklin, WI yesterday. Course underwent $3.2 Million targeted renovation including new irrigation, drainage, tees and sand bunkers.
Tee extensions were a major focus. We added a new set of forward tees on every hole, reducing the shortest length from 5878 to 4587 and added several new back tees extending championship length from 6941 to 7218 yards. Female players in the event said 90% of women have adapted the new tees and love them. It took about a month before they were fully accepted. With the new back tees, Tuckaway is primed to add to it’s tournament history. It was the long time home of the Greater Milwaukee open.
While the master plan is actually a long term phased approach, with more work to be done, Tuckaway elected to implement their new irrigation system and most drainage plans early. All of the sand bunkers were lined with Better Billy Bunker while the design reduced overall sand size from over 110,000 S.F. to a more reasonable 75,000 S.F., without loss of design character.
